Finding Inspiration in the little (kitchen) things.

Hey everyone! I’m guessing chances are that some of you are like me in some ways. One of the ways I think you might be like me, is that you might be dreaming that some day you might be lucky enough to own an old home, chalk full of all the character and history that makes all of us old-stuff-lovers swoon. For most of us, including myself this is just a distant day dream. Trust me, I can’t help but imagine how different my items would look against a chippy bead board wall, or set on original pine floor boards. But hey, who says it has to be all or nothing. Our home was built in 2005 and has lots of shiny new, beautiful, quality elements that most people look for in a home…elements that we even looked for at one point! While I don’t think our home is a good candidate for a complete overhaul infusion of crusty old details, I do think there are some ways that I can indulge in the temptation to surround myself with beautiful aged items. One of my most recent urges has been to invest in old time-worn kitchen items. I tend to love old white ironstone, or anything that shows that it’s been used and loved over the generations, like old wooden spoons and cutting boards, salt cellars, spice jars, anything I can find that wants to tell it’s story. It’s funny how I never get tired of looking at my kitchen collection. It just elevates my mood and just make me plain giddy!!

It may be just a touch of something that takes me to my dreams, but it is something! Maybe it’s not all there yet, but revel in the journey! I just want to inspire all of you….no matter what your circumstances, go after your dreams. It doesn’t have to happen all at once, it doesn’t matter whether or not every detail is perfect or the exact way you would dream it to be, and it doesn’t matter whether those around you support you or tear you down. Go after God’s best in your life and live each moment with the purpose He has laid in front of you. Don’t let your circumstances dictate what you love or where you will go! JUST GO FOR IT!!

French Tart Tins…patina mmmm.

My newest love is this old cake tin. I’m not sure if you can see it or not, but the front reads “CAKES” in old stencil print. And check out the little sneak peek window to tempt you!

To some it is just old tattered kitchen stuff, but it makes me smile. What makes you smile?
